Continuing with the surrealist aesthetics of her last year's audiovisual album Whack World, the American rapper and hip-hop artist Tierra Whack has released a new clip - the official music video of her song 'Unemployed'. Directed by Cat Solens, who had previously co-directed the horror-animation series The Shivering Truth, the music video is uniquely hilarious and bizarre. It presents the artist in her kitchen chopping and cooking potatoes that are alive and talking. It doesn't stop there, she's also seen serving the dishes made of those talking and crying potatoes to a huge, monster potato who's sitting by the dining table waiting for its dinner. 

The visuals are creepy and funny at the same time. According to The Rolling Stones magazine, 'the video takes the viewer on a truly mind-boggling, spud-filled journey with enough puppetry and body horror to make John Carpenter proud. Solen's surreal visuals certainly match and complement the quirky and verbose character of Whack's song. 'Unemployed' is a straightforward, down-and-dirty rap with booming low ends. 

Produced by Zane Lowe, the music is very minimalist in terms of beats and has a great flow. Whack's vocalization is ferocious and full of character. 'The wait is over, I'm takin' over', she sings in a powerful voice; those who would still doubt that are basically fools. Supposedly Whack's mom had played a critical part in the making of the track. ln a recent radio interview with Lowe, Whack has shared how her mother helped her with the hook for this track. The track has a mad playful tune to it that is extremely infectious. The strange audiovisual world of 'Unemployed' reminds one of Tim Burton's films and provides the viewer with a fantastic experience in its true sense.  Hope you don't start fearing the vegetables after watching them!
