Public Enemy is back with a vengeance as they slam dunk Donald Trump in the new single State of The Union.
Branded “a dictator”, “joke”, “clown”, the “sorry ass muther fucker” is also referenced in close proximity to the Nazi Gestapo as the group formed in 1985 rally a call to arms for ballot holders to “rock that vote or vote for hell”.
Produced by DJ Premier who worked with Run The Jewels’ on their new album and who is referenced in this track, see Public Enemy rage and resist with “a fiery return to the frontlines as they take on Donald Trump and his fascist regime.”
It’s clear to see that Public Enemy doesn’t fear the “orange hair combover”, whilst they clearly believe that “human beings of color we be suffering” in light of the heartbreaking deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.
The track’s press release also continued that it’s “an unflinching statement about the destruction the current administration has unleashed on the country and its people, ‘State of the Union (STFU – Shut The Fuck Up)’ speaks truth to power while urging people to fight against racism, injustice, and oppression with their vote.”
Flavor Flav added: “Public Enemy tells it like it is. It’s time for him to GO.”
It’s a menacing track in every department – music is often the answer, medicine for the soul and this track hopes to drive a movement that strives for equality.
“Another four years Gunna gut y’all hollow, gutted out, dried up, broke and can’t borrow.”
Vote with courage. Peace.
