The Streets released their second single

Back in June, the English rap music project The Streets released their second single “I Wish You Loved You As Much As You Love Him” from their mixtape “None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive” that was released a month later. Mike Skinner, the mind and soul behind The Streets, invited two other British artists for collaboration: Donae’o and Greentea Peng. Since the single was aiming to become a summer club hit, Skinner believed that he and Donae’o (who is recognized as the King of UK Funky Music) would be a “match made in heaven”, while Peng’s unique melodies would further enhance the song. Besides having a powerful message, “I Wish You Loved You As Much As You Love Him” also has a memorable video created by Skinner himself during COVID-19 quarantine. Shot fully on green screen, it includes Donae’o and Greentea Peng performing in various routine locations. What makes the music video visually enticing is how Skinner peppered the setting with references to present-day campaigns and internet memes. Anyone would agree that his aesthetics are reminiscent of a college; Skinner claims to have made it in six weeks. After The Streets went on hiatus in 2011, the mixtape “None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive” marked the project’s comeback. After its release, it received favorable reviews and peaked at # 2 in the UK and Scottish Albums charts. The entire mixtape is based on collaborations with various artists. Prior to the mixtape’s release, The Streets shared a short documentary featuring footage of the creation of the mixtape. As Skinner himself puts it “The film’s just a caper, really; it’s a bit of fairytale but a fairytale told in the real world.”

**This was released in June and we know that we're late getting to it but we felt that it deserved attention.
