Little Simz - Introvert

Little Simz - Introvert

British-Nigerian rapper Little Simz, has gained the reputation of being a beautifully liberated and powerful artist, with her concise, honest, and brave outlook of the world we live in. It's refreshing in this often fake artificial era to see an artist be so open and confidently discuss her personal vulnerability and opinions in such a beautifully candid manner. Little Simz is way more than just an MC (which she is very good at); she has found herself to be the voice and hope of a generation.

"Introvert" sees Simz that this fledging status to another level. A groundbreaking political anthem, where Simz masterfully commentates on her inner turmoil as she deals with her own proud identity during a time of social and political difficulty.

The track begins with a grand orchestral display, which Simz suitably follows with impressive bars dealing with despair, disappointment towards a corrupt government, and societal prejudice towards black women. Pushed onwards by a driving drum-line and cinematic fanfare (a perfect complement to the powerful vocals) akin to a triumphant Martin Luther King speech. A six-minute sonic extravaganza, with compellingly enlightened lyrics such as "I'm a Black woman, and I'm a proud one/ We walk in blind faith not knowing the outcome/ But as long as we're unified then we've already won", this track will be bound to poignantly linger in your mind for a long time, and hopefully evoke that unity is the best way to move forward.

Regarding the song, Little Simz declared, "Introvert is essentially me finding power within my introversion. Turning inwards and finding peace within myself amongst all the chaos that's happening in the world, just trying to center myself, ground myself, and ask myself real and honest questions in order to grow".

"Introvert" appears with an equally magnificent music video directed by Salomon Ligthelm. The clip cuts together archival and newly shot footage of protests and social unrest with stunning dance choreography, a remarkable video both visually and auditorially. The video to "Introvert" can be seen below.

"Introvert" is the first single off Little Simz's highly anticipated latest album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, released via her own Age 101 label on Setempber 3rd. Guests on the 19-track record include soul singer Cleo Sol, Obongjayar, and The Crown actress Emma Corrin.
