Röyksopp and Linktree

Röyksopp

Freemium social media reference landing site Linktree has been a music industry changer. It has given artists the power to customize their content and bring together a vocal point for their various social media pages. And as a result, it provides further power for musicians seeking to monetize their art.

To look for evidence of the benefits and impact of Linktree, look no further than Norweigan electronic-music duo Röyksopp (Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland). The music veterans have been making music since 1998 and have released five studio albums to date. On April the 29th of this year, they will release their sixth with "Profound Mysteries".

And they have been ensuring despite their advancing years, they are still relevant, with various innovative marketing and promotional work building up for the album release. Röyksopp has always been known for their elaborate performances and invention, and they continue this ethos thanks to interactive digital channels.

In January, on the band's Instagram page, they teased a forthcoming project and encouraged fans to "Press R" in order to discover new music, alongside a link to an updated, interactive version of their official website. This was followed by releases of short films for "(Nothing But) Ashes" and "The Ladder".

In February, they premiered another new track, "Impossible", which featured legendary singer Alison Goldfrapp, with an additional artefact and visualizer from Australian artist Jonathan Zawada.

The pair also released an announcement that described the new release as an "expanded creative universe and prodigious conceptual project".

Furthermore, the band released a short film entitled "The Conversation" last week, directed by heavyweight Danish director Martin De Thurah. The film featured more new music from the upcoming project, the full version of which was later released with more visuals from Zawada in the track, "This Time, This Place..." featuring Beki Mari.

Such diverse and prolific ideation shines a positive light on how to use technology to deliver creativity as well as integrate fans into the process. Linktree provides a centrepiece for Röyksopp to showcase their incredible latest work, which they have used to fantastic effect.
