RTJ4 RELEASED DURING DAYS OF RAGE

Run The Jewel

Ten years in the making Run the Jewels are now a festival headliner…ironically in a time where there are no festivals right now. The hard-hitting duo has just dropped the new album RDJ4 as an audio reinforcement to society's struggles with the global pandemic and the fight against racism.

It’s no surprise that the duo was set to support a high-profile tour opening for Rage Against The Machine, with this record jam-packed full of fury. In fact, RATM’s Zack De La Rocha features on the record with Pharell Williams on bomb track JU$T.

“The world is infested with bullshit,” they said in a statement, “so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all.”

The difference between the duo’s previous collaborations and their latest collection of tracks hits you like a knuckle-duster. There’s more of an apocalyptic edge to the humor this time around and it’s one hundred percent fit-for-purpose as of now in these testing times.

I’ve had activists tell me as recently as yesterday, “Man, your guys’ album dropping at the moment it did spoke to exactly how I was feeling” Killer Mike said.

Other notable high-profile collaborations on the album include Josh Homme and Mavis Staples on Pulling The Pin, whilst there are samples from the likes of Gang of Four and Gang Starr, which make the record feel like it’s in the red.

If you too feel like “there’s a grenade in my heart”, this album is for you right now. Turn it up loud during these days of rage.
